Kekuli Cafe opened in Merritt BC, August 01, 2014! Operating two cafe’s in Westbank & Merritt BC as if they were both franchises, to test the systems, create the systems and ensure that Kekuli Cafe would be successful!
Kekuli Cafe was franchised Dec 01, 2018 to one of our employees, who had the drive, the passion and the heart to own Kekuli Cafe. Elijah Mack-Stirling of the Nuxalk Nation, and long time resident of Merritt BC, purchased his first business. He came with years experience working in fast food industry, and graduated from Merritt Secondary School. Elijah was the youngest Franchise Owner, that we would ever imagine, owning a Kekuli. Elijah Mack-Stirling is a role model for youth, and inspiring for Youth Entrepreneurs in his community, his brothers and his Nation.
Thank you to the town of Merritt BC, for supporting this young man in his first year of business. His dreams and goals are huge! As dreams should be, where Indigenous people, Indigenous Youth have to strive to thrive to get ahead in this world.
